Peter Bond

Head of Executive Search

Peter Bond

Peter heads up the Executive Search function, and has around a decade’s worth of experience in this field. He’s also worked in business consulting.

He firmly believes in an ethical approach to recruitment, and thinks you should be honest with customers and talent.

Peter is a multi-instrumental musician, and was once in a heavy metal band.

What is your role?
I head up our growing Executive Search function. The role suits me as I love working with U&P’s customers.

What did you do before joining U&P?
I’ve 10 years’ experience of working in what is commonly called ‘headhunting’ and another 10 in recruitment management prior to that. However, my last role was in business consulting – it’s related to Executive Search in that both roles demand absolute discretion and involve handling sensitive information.

Why did you join U&P?
I wanted to return to Executive Search, as I really missed it. U&P are market leaders – so where else would I go?!

What’s great about working for U&P?
I love the fact there’s an ethical approach to recruitment. This fits in with my values of being honest with customers and talent.

What did you want to be when you were at school?
I only ever wanted to be one thing – an RAF pilot. However, someone wise decided that letting me loose in a 5 million pound aircraft would probably end in tears.

What’s your favourite place to visit in the UK?
Bath. For the last 5-6 years I’ve been going regularly with my wife and we stay in the same really nice manor house, which is in a wonderful setting. Bath itself has good shops, good food and fine architecture.

What made you choose your current home?
My wife saw it and said we had to buy it! We’ve been there now for 18 years.

What would be the setting of your dream home?
It would definitely be in the UK as I love it here. I do landscape photography and enjoy snapping the countryside. As my wife loves the sea, the setting would need to be in the country, but close to the sea to keep us both happy. So somewhere in Devon would be perfect – perhaps living in a barn conversion.

What do you enjoy outside of work?
My real love is music - playing and recording. I’m a decent drummer, a bad guitarist, and also play a bit of oboe and piano. A few years ago now I was in a heavy metal band (pre-oboe!) Away from music I enjoy spending time with friends and family.
